M224 Mortar Firing Distant 02

Recorded roughly 1000m from the source. This is the report of the inital 'shot.' These sounds were recorded via a Sony HD Handycam around 2007/2008 in Iraq while participating in the so-called 'global war on terror.' I was not a mortarman but was part of the security detail working with them. We utilized indirect fires several times, some of which were controlled situations where I was able to record video. These sounds were extracted from said video, and are of limited quality because of it. I am not an expert on these weapons systems, so if my nomenclatures are slightly off, or my description isn't perfectly accurate, forgive me. Please send me a message if you use these sounds in a project. They are free, and the only thing I get out of the deal is the satisfaction of seeing them used in some creative work.
