Tank crew gunnery exercise audio
sell Tags
description Description
This is a recording of a US Army M1A1 tank crew conducting a gunnery exercise in Grafenwoer, Germany in June of 2005. The audio was recorded from a live radio communication from the tank from the crew intercom system. The mics of the gunner, loader and tank commander are live. The high-pitched whining is the tank's gas turbine engine and hydraulics. The intermittent, two-tone beep is the "hot mic" indicator (which indicates that the tank is transmitting a radio signal). Main gun and coaxial machine gun sounds are muted because the recording is inside the tank. The mechanical clanging sound after the main gun firing is the sound of the ejected aftcap hitting the aftcap deflector on the breech.
