description Description
Music scores and ensembles: Akirin interacting proteins DNA coding sequences translated into music The algorithm used to translate DNA coding sequences into music was as previously reported (Riego E, Silva A, de la Fuente J. 1995. The sound of the DNA language. Biol. Res. 28, 197-204), except that each codon was metrically equivalent to a bar and had a differentiated rhythmic and melodic character. Using this approach, musical scores were prepared for DNA sequences of Akirin/Subolesin (AKR/SUB) derived from different species and human Akirin2-interacting proteins RNF10 and THRAP5 and the non-interacting protein IFN-alpha1 as control. Musical ensembles support that AKR in different species are evolutionarily related and structurally conserved and that both AKR2-RNF10 and AKR2-THRAP5 but not AKR2-IFN-a1 musical ensembles predict protein-protein interactions coinciding with those found by genetic methods.
