woodchop
description Description
I recorded this at the Bellingen Agricultural Show, in Bellingen, New South Wales, Australia in 1999. It is the Snow Glyde Memorial Sprint Woodchop. Most woodchopping races are handicaps; so the slowest axeman starts first and so on. Often it takes three minutes before the fastest axeman begins. The beauty of this recording is that the axeman start together and gradually fall out of time. Also the harsh Australian country accents that are heard. The expulsion of air through the nostrils by the axemen. The sounds of the poultry in the background, the Poultry Pavilion being next to the woodchopping arena. This was recorded using aa Tascam Pro DAT with AKG CK 98 shotgun microphone with P12-48 pre-amp, also known as AKG SE300B. Bit rate 16, sample rate 44.1mhz.
