description Description

Macro: Short loops and medium loops of experimental electronic music/sound/noise. Meso: Short to medium-length loops generated by LFO (low frequency oscillators) and VCO (voltage controlled oscillators) and Waveshapers (similar to, or a type of, VCO). Objective Micro: A noisy, partially clicking/clipping sound like a small microphone within earshot of a slowly landing helicopter. There's a rotor wash sound cropping up here. It seems to be a fairly common sound with certain patterns of oscillators - which makes sense, since rotors themselves could be thought of as oscillators. Subjective Micro: Interview in the battlefields of Vietnam. Technical: • DAW: VCV Rack v.1.1.6 • Elements used: Various LFOs, VCOs, and Waveshapers • Method: LFOs were set at different rates/frequencies and then were mapped onto the controls of various VCOs and Waveshapers. Some LFOs used, such as the Range LFO by RJModules, allow one to specify the voltage output to a certain range as well as being able to decide wave shape, such as Sine, Sawtooth, Triangle, and Square. Using a number of these LFOs, both individually and some chained to one another, I was able to control other LFOs and VCOs. This sometimes resulted in complex wave forms and sometimes simple wave forms.
