description Description
The slip printer on an Epson TM-H6000II performing its self-test. The slip printer is a narrow dot-matrix printer similar to those on some receipt printers (particularly those intended for kitchen use) but designed to work on sheets of paper rather than rolls. At #0:00, power is switched on and the printer initializes itself. At #0:05, the printer receives one sheet and prints the current settings onto the sheet. Because the printer is printing a varied pattern of characters and spaces, the sound is irregular. At #0:16, the printer responds to the sheet of paper being removed from the mechanism. At #0:17, the printer is fed another sheet and prints a test pattern that has a character in every position, resulting in a much more uniform buzzing noise. At #0:40, the printer responds to the sheet of paper being removed from the mechanism. At #0:42, the printer is fed another sheet and continues printing its test pattern. At #1:00, the printer responds to the sheet of paper being removed from the mechanism. Because this concludes the self-test, the printer initializes itself again. Recorded using the microphone of an iPhone 11 with no further processing other than some cutting.
