Common Pipistrelle Bat Social, Echolocation and Feeding Buzz
sell Tags
description Description
Common pipistrelle bat flying past the recorder. Modified so that it can be heard. Starts with a social call, followed by echolocation, more social calls and a feeding buzz. The loudest sounds are the social calls and the feeding buzz is very quiet. The echolocation calls help with navigation and locating prey. The feeding buzz (at about 36s) takes place when the bat is homing in on the prey item, which could be something like a moth or other flying insect. Date and time of recording: 31st July 2025 at 02:53. Recorded with an Audiomoth. Original sample rate was 384kHz. This file has been slowed to 10% of the original and resampled to 48kHz to make it audible and playable.
