description Description

As a fan of The Beatles I decided to get some inspiration from the Yellow Submarine song and The Octopus’s Garden song. For this particular sound I recorded myself playing the chorus of The Octopus’s Garden on the piano, as well as singing some of the lyrics of both songs. The acoustic guitar part is an isolated track from the Yellow Submarine song I found on the internet. I also recorded myself splashing some water to the rhythm of Paul McCartney’s acoustic guitar, and then I recorded myself doing some bubbles with a straw in a glass of water. I downloaded the sea sound on Freesound from InspectorJ. First things first I added a stereo track to which I added the sound of all the isolated tracks from Yellow Submarine, then I cut the part I was interested in (a small part of the acoustic guitar), I added a (Wha wha) effect to it so it sounds like it’s muffled or underwater, I lowered the volume (-28db) and set the sound to the right ear side. Then, I added a track in which I make some water splashing rhythm. I cut and selected the parts I wanted and then I added a (Low Pass Filter) with 12dB to it. I turned the volume a little bit lower (+9dB) and set the sound on the left ear side. Afterwards, I added another track in which I sing the begining of the Yellow Submarine lyrics, I added a (Low Pass Filter) with 24dB, then, I proceeded to adding a (Reverb) effect to really hear as if the voice was deep underwater. I turned the volume down to -22dB (because my singing is awful) and I set the sound to the right ear side. Then I added the ocean waves track, I left it without any effect, left the sound on both ears and I turned down the volume to (-13dB) but still loud enough to cover the part where I say “‘till we found a sea of green” and that was made on purpose, the sea is finally appearing! After this, I generated a (Risset Drum) which I paulstreched and reverbed it and added a (Sliding stretch) to it. Finally, I repeated it twice. My aim was to have something sounding like a submarine sonar but the outcome was not the one I hoped for and to be honest, I don’t know how to make a sonar sound on audacity. So I had to make do with it For the remaining piano, bubble and lyrics tracks I added the same (Low Pass Filters) and (Reverb) effects of the Yellow Submarine lyrics. And I left the last track, a second ocean waves track, as it was, I only turned down the volume to (-15dB). Aye, aye, sir, enjoy!!
